About the blog

We all have dreams, but we haven't all identified them. This site is about taking the time to figure out where we want to be and how we're going to get there. It is our goals that move us closer to those dreams.

What I'm doing is simple: 6 goals x 6 months.
The time is now the place is now. Let's get goaling.

Week 2

Dear, Friends:

I made this page to create action.  This past week,  my goals surged through my grey matter like a broken dam would a dried up river.  However, this extra stimulation did not catalyze the activity necessary to complete my action plan.  Although disappointed, I shall be resilient and over perform this week.  Let's get going...

What have you done for me lately?

Change 30 lives
1. Have 4 good conversations
I made this my part of my action plan last week to listen better.  It is said that the key to a good conversation is found through your ears.

2. Gain 10 lbs muscle
Eat breakfast everyday.
I ate breakfast twice this past week.  I read in a productivity study that Nike aimed to get Nike+ users to upload data five times, they said that, that was all it took to get them hooked.  Otherwise they would drop off.  We'll make the magic number five times for this coming week.

Work out major muscle groups.
The foot is better but it would have been counterproductive to work out with this hole.  I was too stokked on that last post.  But, this week I plan to take it easy and let the thing heal fully.  Body weight exercises only.
MOOTCH BETTER
3. Save an extra $2,000
Find the most cost effective car insurance
I found a quote that was $80.00 less per month.  I also found a cheaper cell service through PagePlus but when I tried to cancel Verizon, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse, more service for $30 cheaperXmonth.  Total savings of $1320/year!

4. Develop and present business plan to five investors
Spend 15 minutes everyday this week dedicated to my own business
Got some great things in the oven here.  More details to come.

5. Spend 200 hours learning Spanish
Find Spanish girl to date.  Choose platform for study.
When I started thinking about learning Spanish, I thought my options were limited.  My god was I wrong!  There is a plethora, and I mean PLETHORA of options... Read more here.  Did you know there's a site where you can learn another language from a native in exchange for teaching them English?  That's radically social - check out LiveMocha.com.  After spending some researching this, I chose to use the two following in conjunction for my study:
Nulu.com: Having the daily news read to you in Spanish followed by a quiz.
Nulengua.com: Online tutoring sessions.

6. Read 12 books
Read minimum one hour each night before bed.
So I just couldn't get into Motherless Brooklyn.  Fifty pages in I put it down and picked up a book that one of mentors had referred to me a long time ago.  It's called - Connected: The Surprising Power of Our Social Networks... Awesome reading so far 100 pages in.  It talks about how our friends' friends' friends affect everything we think, feel, and do.

WAP!

1. Change 30 lives
Send 4 encouraging letters to strangers.
I know this sounds like a random thing to do, but you never know what someone is going through and how something so little as a letter could mean so much.  Just trying to get in touch with the universe here people ;)

2. Gain 10 lbs muscle
Eat breakfast five times this week.
Pushups/situps everyday.
Ahem! Due to my foot - I will be doing a modified version of last week's action plan.  That will be all.

3. Save an extra $2,000
Analyze my expenses using the free app, Mint.com, and eliminate one item from top 10 expenses.

4. Develop and present business plan to five investors
Spend 20 minutes everyday this week dedicated to my own business.

5. Spend 200 hours learning Spanish
1 Spanish tutoring session on Nulengua.com
Minimum 3 articles completed on Nulu.com

6. Read 12 books
Read minimum one hour each night before bed.

I challenge you Pikachu!
Tell someone you don't see everyday (maybe a coworker or friend that doesn't live close) about one of your goals.  Chances are next time they see you down the road, they will ask you if you reached that goal.

Words to ponder
"To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul.  To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence you hear the truth and know the solutions." - Deepak Chopra
