Dear, Friends:
I found myself recently trying to define the word goal in simple terms. Naturally, I decided to cut to the chase and look up the definition. However, I did not like the definition of goal because of its inherent noun-ness. Where's the action!? I remember thinking that a goal is just a popcorn kernel; until you add some heat and make it pop, it's nothing but a seed. Therefore, we should make our goals pop into verbs and go goaling <definition provided below>.
goal·ing
verb \ˈgōl-iŋ\,Definition of GOALING
1a : Actively seeking an end toward which efforts are directed
So, without further ado... I present to you my 6 goals in 6 months and what they mean to me.
1. Change 30 lives
This is the only subjective goal on my list. I believe that goals MUST be measurable and you'll notice the rest of my five are quantifiable but one can't measure the good that they impart on others. You just know when you've truly affected someone on a deeper level. This is the goal that will make me the happiest to accomplish.
2. Gain 10 lbs muscle
My fitness fluctuates. I have good streaks and bad streaks when it comes to working out. I've been meaning to get back into a routine for the past year with no consistent avail. That changes now.
3. Save an extra $2,000
Pretty standard goal here. I'm looking to discipline myself when it comes to finances. Learning where and how I can save more.
4. Develop and present business plan to five investors
I've been sitting on a lot of really good ideas for some time now and I'd like to get going. Owning my own successful venture is a long-term goal that starts with goal number 4 here and NOW.
5. Spend 200 hours learning Spanish
I took 8 years of Spanish in school and still can't have a cognizant conversation. ¡arriba!
6. Read 12 books
I love reading! Why don't I read more? I want to get in the habit of reading everyday. 12 books in 6 months is very doable.
I challenge you Pikachu!
